I saw a great poster at the gym yesterday. It said, “It would take a miracle for a miracle diet to work”. I thought that it was right on! lol For me personally, I’ve found that eating fruits, veggies, grains, and a consistent exercise program at the gym has helped me loose quite a bit of wait.
Pills and potions are no substitute to common sense eating, fresh air, and exercise. At least, that is my own personal opinion. If you want to be fit, you gotta sweat a bit! Try finding a gym that has a good selection of classes that are free to gym members. Try them out, find the ones that you like, and chat with the other folks in the class.

I like the ad that you had seen and I will take it up at my weight loss and beauty forum. The idea of getting like-minded people to hang out together and support each other is what made be create a forum where we are have something in common – losing weight the right way.
Great post Elizabeth, at the end, you mention balance. Balance is the opposite of yo yo. If you go to one extreme, you will most likely go to the other.
I watch a good friend of mine do this all the time. He starves himself with a new diet, then binges. When he is not on a “diet” he does well.
You are right when you say gain awareness. What do you want and why. Clarity, focus on the goal. I know I do better when I focus on the end and not the means, they will take care of themselves.

Eat Less, exercize more, with discipline always seems to work with me. Thanks for posting this encouragement to address the mental perspective. Think Rasheed has it nailed… When you focus on something you create more of it. By acknowledging a need to “diet” you are usually focusing on how you don’t want your body to look, thereby attracting more of what you don’t want. IMO, Lifestyle and daily routine is the answer – but that’s too simple for the “quick-fix” society, who turn to a never-ending supply of ‘remedies’.

Good post Elizabeth. I think the reason people go on yo-yo diets is simply because they’re ON the diet. Then after the diet they go back to eating junk. What most people don’t realize is that diets are lifestyles.
Same with how we can’t just build a business for 100 days and then just leave if after that and expect it to grow itself. We need to maintain it continually!

Hey Elizabeth. Just like most things in life or even business, their has to be a strong enough reason as to why you want to do something or achieve something. In terms of losing weight, the same thing applies because if your reasons for not losing weight are strong enough and more importantly if you don’t believe you can do it, then you will be doomed right from the start! The best thing to do is to write out a list and read it everyday so it keeps you focused and motivated.
